Are you feeling creatively blocked or uninspired?

Perhaps you feel like you want to create art, but don’t know where to start, or can’t seem to make time and space for yourself.

The Artist's Way+Art Journaling is a powerful course that can help you get creating!

👉 Join us for a 13-week journey of self-reflection and exploration using art journaling, and the Artist’s Way book as our guide. Weekly Zoom calls will bring us together to discuss the chapter, share thoughts, ideas and challenges, and work on art projects that will help unlock your creative potential.

👉 If you have’t heard, The Artist’s Way is Julia Cameron’s groundbreaking book on creativity. It’s broken into 12 weeks… and actually it’s kind of a 12-step program for recovering your creativity! (I’ve added a “week zero” into the mix to get us ready for the journey!!)

Listen, if you don’t think you’re creative, I feel ya!

I grew up thinking I wasn’t creative, and would in fact, declare to the world “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.” 👀 😆

It’s funny to write that now, but it took a really serious thing to get me to tap into my creativity; my sister’s death. She died in a car crash in 1995, and to make a long story short, I inherited her paints, and used them to paint through the grief. Pain led me to my creativity. A strong creative practice and The Artist’s Way have kept me creating.

My Artist's Way Story

My name is Tabetha Landt. I’m a teaching artist and have been guiding groups through The Artist’s Way since 2012.

I first read the book - or part of it - in 2006 when I was feeling like I was in a creative rut. I didn’t finish it, however because my creativity skyrocketed, and I was too busy painting to read!

In 2012 I needed another creativity boost, and I decided to invite some people to join me in reading the The Artist’s Way. I figured that some accountability would be a good idea. It was a fabulous group! I decided to add some creative art exercises, and a course was born!

What You Will Get From This Course

  • Support - Going through the book with a group offers support and accountability that you can't get going it alone.

  • Private Online Group - we'll have our own private forum to discuss the book, our lives and to share our art!

  • Instructor-lead weekly Zoom calls to discuss the chapter and work on an art journal project.

  • New thought - Group discussions lead to fresh new thoughts and ideas that you probably would not have gotten to on your own.

  • Materials - Downloadable/printable PDF worksheets and other goodies will help keep you organized and on track.

  • Access to the Paint Through It community. Paint Through It is an online community for artists, art students and art-curious folks to connect, learn and grow.

  • Understanding - Talking about your trials makes you realize that you're not alone.

What’s your creative dream?

To pick up drawing or painting again? Write a book? Play the piano?

There is no time like the present to get started!

We’ll use visual art in our zoom calls as a tool to bust through creative blocks, but this class is open to any and all creative disciplines. (You just have to be open to playing with some art supplies!)

Nervous about the art part of the course, (or anything else)? I can help!

Two options:

  1. Email me with any concerns or questions.

  2. Or, if you’d like to have a face to face chat, you can get on my calendar for a free 15-minute consultation (I promise you it’s not a sales call!)

Still not sure?

Sign up now to receive $40 off of the regular price! And I’ll throw in a private session for an additional $40 ($55 value)

Your private 1-hour session is good for any (pre-arranged) time before or during the course, if you think you need a little extra support, coaching, an art lesson…just you and me on Zoom for an hour!

Commitment

This course does require a commitment of time and energy. If you go all in, you will need to carve out at least 30 minutes each day for writing, and an additional 30-60 minutes once or twice a week. So we're looking at 5-6 hours a week in addition to the Saturday classes.

Yes, going all in on this course takes time and energy - and it is SO worth it! You are a grown up and can put as much or as little into this course as you want. You will see small results with little effort, and big results if you dedicate yourself.

To paraphrase Picasso: We’re all born artists, and the trick is to remain artists when we grow up.

In a perfect world, we would all get the support and nurturing we need, and would grow up to realize our creative and artistic potential. But…we don’t live in that word. The good news is that you are intrinsically creative. It is in your DNA. And all of your unique experiences and interests make up your secret sauce as a creative person! You just need to be willing to open your mind and explore a bit to get back to the creative person you were as a kid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I miss classes?
Yes, of course! Life is busy, and things come up. If you have to miss a class or two, I just ask that you read the chapter and do the homework.

Is this an art class?
Yes and no. We do art in the class, but it's not an instructional class. You will receive guidance and prompts for your art journal exercises, but I will not teach you how to paint. This is not about painting, it's about creativity! (You can’t get this wrong.)

I've never painted, can I still join?
Sure! You don't need any experience painting, but you do need to be open-minded about exploring your art supplies. Email me after signing up if you're nervous about the painting part. Or sign up for a class, open studio session, or private lesson to get a jump-start.

Refund Policy

This course requires a commitment of time and energy. Facing your creative blocks is a brave thing to do, and it can be a challenging class at times. We want you to see this course through, and so we have a strict no-refund policy.

Supplies

Below is a list of supplies, with links to most of the products.

The brands and brush sizes are not important: if you already have acrylic paint and brushes, feel free to use those! If you have a different version of The Artist’s Way than the one that I’ve linked to (i.e. a different printing* of the book), you can use that one.

Pick and Choose

This is a course about creativity, and often I will suggest you use supplies that are calling to you. These are some of the additional art supplies that I tend to use in this course, you are free to use these or whatever else you feel like using.

  • Oil Pastels

  • Charcoal Pencils

  • Collage materials:

    • paper scraps from magazines, free publications and junk mail (to name a few)

    • Something to glue the paper down: I use glue sticks, matte medium, or gel medium (you can even use Elmer’s glue.)

    • Scissors

  • Other supplies you might want to use if you’ve got them: colored pencils, pens, markers, watercolors.

* Please make sure the the book you have/get is “The Artist’s Way A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity” or “The Artist’s Way A Course in Discovering and Recovering your Creative Self”. The most common covers are pictured towards the top of this page.

(There are many other books and products with The Artist’s Way name on it; such as “The Artist’s Way Morning Pages Journal” or “The Artist’s Way Workbook”, and you don’t need any of those.)

Also, I strongly recommend the physical book, not the audio book. There are two versions of the audiobook. If you choose to get the audiobook, make sure you get the longer version. The other one skips large chunks of the book. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I encourage you to get out and support your local small business art supply store and bookseller if you can find them! If you don’t have any near you, or prefer to order your supplies online, I am an Amazon affiliate, and may receive a small commission from the links above. Thank you for supporting this small business artist!
