Oil on Canvas
This painting was dreamed up while sitting by Bear Creek near Morrison Colorado. A friend and I were picnicking on the 4th of July, and sketching the beautiful scenery that surrounded us.
When I got back to my studio I did some little studies of these trees in acrylic paint and oil pastels. In life, the colors were different - greens, blues, browns. But the sketched and painted versions wanted warmer colors. I like to think that the glow of the final painting is warmth I felt inside on that beautiful day.
Dimming of the Day is on a 1.5" thick gallery-wrapped canvas, with the edges painted black. It has a wire on the back and is ready to hang.
