Hi, I'm Tabetha, and Landt Creative Space my art studio, classroom, and gallery space... basically my second home!
This is where I create my own art, and I open the doors to students of all abilities for open paint sessions, group classes and private lessons in oils and acrylics. I recently started taking groups on art retreats to Oaxaca City, Mexico, and I've got plans to host retreats in other places, within the States, and internationally. If you're not in the Denver area, please scroll down to join my newsletter - I do painting videos, and am planning on hosting online classes soon! |
The Accidental Teacher
I quit my full-time job in 2009 to pursue a career in art. I knew it was the worst possible economy to do such a thing, but... I also knew that if I didn't do it then, I never would. A year later I was still working part time helping out at my old job, and not selling enough art to make ends meet. I had to face the fact that I may have to give up my art studio, and this made me sad beyond words. So I racked my brain for different ways to use my studio and bring in some money.
People had suggested that I teach for several years prior, so I thought... why not? I opened the doors to Painting Soiree on Santa Fe in September 2010.
Although it started out as a way to keep my studio, it has turned into a passion. I love teaching! And people have really responded well to my classes. My favorite thing is having people leave my studio proud of their work, having had little or no prior painting experience. "I had no idea I could do that!" is one of my favorite comments.
Over the years Painting Soiree has morphed to include open studio (freestyle) sessions, classes on creativity, oil paints, technique, abstract painting and art retreats. My business name has changed to Landt Creative Space to embrace the all of the creative work that happens in my studio. (My next endeavor will be online classes!)
After 9 years in the Art District on Santa Fe, I recently moved to the 40 West Arts District in Lakewood Colorado.I love my new studio space! The old space was full of character, but the new space has some comforts that the old one didn't: it's on the ground floor (no stairs!), we have a parking lot, air conditioning and wifi. We've moved into the 21st century!
If you're in the Denver area, I hope you'll join me for a class or a First Friday Art Market! If you live farther away, please sign up for my email newsletter - and I'll send you a FREE copy of my ebook - Painting Through It - as a thank you gift!
